Did notice an article penned by your business editor about new Aero Apartments in downtown Everett. (Nov. 30, “Skotdal’s Aero Apartments land in downtown Everett.”)
The article detailed range of square feet available for various apartments, but nowhere in the article did it mention rent dollars for these square feet.
I made $82,000 last year. I put 21 percent into my 401(k) plan in order to avoid becoming a retirement statistic. And directing 21 percent of my pre-tax paycheck toward my 401(k) does not put me up to the maximum of $18,500 yearly input recommended by financial planners.
My bimonthly paycheck is about $1,500. Financial planners say that it will be fiscally irresponsible for me to pay more than 25 percent of my take-home pay on rent. That means I can afford to pay $750 monthly rent.
As a single guy with no debt, will I be able to afford to live at Aero Apartments on my $82,000 yearly pay?
