The Herald continues to push me to the point where I should look elsewhere for information and news.
News or information about local issues seems to lag or is even non-existent. The public, your readers need breaking and follow-up on many subjects. What is The Herald doing to improve its content and service? Transferring the assets to another owner is not a solution; what has improved since this ownership transfer?
Where is Boeing in all of the issues it is facing (safety, labor strife). What about other investigative opportunities like happenings at the Snohomish County PUD (high rates, high salaries, project funds, cost reductions for customers, etc). After all the PUD is a public institution, which is not supposed to make a profit! There are other organizations big and small, private and public which could use a look-see; county and city governments; the ports of Everett, Edmonds, etc; Paine Field and its expansion programs; private company land grabbing, etc.
What about the happenings in local governments (wasted funds, crime prevention, homelessness efforts, in-fighting, etc). When was the last time our representatives reported on their efforts (lots of campaigning by senators, representatives, governor, council members). What votes have Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell taken for the good of this county other than as a campaign ad? Sen. Murray seems to have retired on the job. Sen. Cantwell is staying out of the fray. Of course, Gov. Jay Inslee is just waiting to start his state pension in a few months. Rep. Rick Larsen reports and general exposure are the exception. County and city governments get little to no press oversight.
Will I drop The Herald? Probably not. But I do wish I had other options. I remain hopeful.
