After reading and listening to all the issues being brought forward lately, I want to comment on some of them.
Gay marriage is a matter that should be left up to the states; the federal government has no business in it.
War has turned into a vehicle for our greedy and power-hungry politicians to confiscate the natural resources of a Third World country. If we have no plans to stay in Iraq on a permanent basis why are we building a huge embassy over there? Why has there been no effort to find out where the $9 billion disappeared to over there?
Progress in a country is best if all the people prosper, not just the super rich. This administration has made sure the well-to-do have everything they need to live well, while they make sure the lower and middle class have to struggle just to exist. They have virtually gotten rid of unions, which were the only thing protecting them from the rising prices leveled by corporations, like the oil companies.
As a veteran of World War II (I served in Germany) and a senior citizen, I feel my efforts to defend the American way of life are being undermined by the people running this government. It no longer is “Of the people, by the people and for the people,” and I really thought that is what it was all about! We need leaders who will, for only the right reasons and as a last resort, lead us into war, not take us into war by choice for pure greed.
