I very much appreciated Herald Columnist Tom Burke’s report in the July 17 Herald (“If Trump wins, are you ready for what comes with him?” The Herald, July 17).
I am not opposed to anyone choosing who they wish to support.
However, in these tumultuous times, it is most important to lead the reader to as Paul Harvey would say, ”’the rest of the story.”
Since Trump was grazed by a bullet, it appears that people have forgotten that this candidate has been the driving force for division amongst Americans.
The call from the media is to lower the temperature! All the while, Trump continues to initiate the so-called heat! He has invited hate rhetoric all-along. His name calling of Biden as, “Crooked Joe”and of his own parties’ “Ron DeSanctimonious” and “Birdbrain” (Haley) are mild examples of raising the temperature. His Invitation to Jan. 6, 2021’s events led to death.
I wish no one attempted assassination and indeed believe we should be civil. I viewed the live event and saw the Secret Service trying to shield him from harm. Trump came up with a fist and said “Fight.” Now, the Republican National Convention attendees chant, “Fight, Fight, Fight” and they mimic his sentiment with fists.
In closing, his hand could have ultimately displayed a peace sign!
I am hopeful for a better future for all Americans. Please think twice before voting for this celebrity candidate.
