What if we simply did our own jobs?

Is there no one in the upper echelon of PUD who has the brains and experience to do the job they were hired to do? The California-based consultant says that most of his time was devoted to improving the customer service department. Why didn’t the manager of the customer service department do this, the job he was hired to do?

There is simply too much reliance on outside firms by governmental agencies, including county government. In the last 10 years when the county envisioned having to build a new jail, they did three separate studies a couple years apart and spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to outside research firms in order to find a location and design a new jail. They ended up tossing out the results of each study and instead decided to build the new jail on the same block as the old jail. Is there no one in Snohomish County government who could have figured that out by themselves, thereby saving county taxpayers all that money? Maybe when Bob Drewel’s position comes open, we should consider electing a consultant. Imagine all the money we’d save.
