I remember as a kid if you owned a BB gun or a slingshot you were hot stuff. Nowadays, even a handgun doesn’t really impress anyone. But if you have any kind of semi-automatic weapon, everything changes. Now, you become invincible. Really?
Why would anyone want or need any kind of assault weapon? You can’t hunt deer with it, not a bear or a moose. So, if you aren’t going to war, why then do you want one? Is it to show off, is it to be a big man in the neighborhood?
I would venture, even a member of the NRA couldn’t give us a real solid answer to that one.
An even more important question might be: Why doesn’t our government do something? I wonder if, maybe some of our own people in high places maybe get a little reward if they vote against gun control. I know this for sure: There is some reason why no one does anything to stop these killings.
These guns need to be gathered up and destroyed and a law passed against even selling them again. Then after this law gets passed, if you still own one, a stiff jail sentence should stop them.
Washington, do something positive for a change and try to earn your pay. You are there to serve us, not each other. So stand up and be your own person, instead of someone else’s.
