Thank you for the very informative article on Boeing workers’ exposure to carcinogens in the workplace (“Boeing workers long-exposed to carcinogen far above legal limits,” The Herald, Jan. 20).
It might be noted that there may be another important issue hiding within the article, that being the egregious safety violations occurring there as witnessed in the picture on page A6 of two employees working around a jet engine! One appears to abandoned his stairway and standing upon engine parts, the other standing on the railing of an elevated man lift. No harnesses needed as well. Although the picture was taken in 2009, I’m certain that especially at Boeing, these types of safety protocols were in place.
