Regarding the Sunday article, “Capitol holiday decor: tree, manger, atheist sign”:
Will the last person with intelligence left in Olympia please turn out the lights?
Is the atheist placard included in the Capitol holiday display, declaring in part that religion is “myth and superstition” that “hardens hearts and enslaves minds,” somebody’s idea of a bad joke? Can anyone conceive of a corresponding sign on the Christian Nativity scene declaring atheism to be “relativistic skepticism” that “secularizes and bankrupts the human heart”?
Fortunately, we know from John’s Gospel that Jesus was sent into the world not to condemn it but to save it — atheists included, should they turn and believe in the name of God’s only son.
Equal time? I think that the crushing excess of seasonal commercialism, not to mention the nonsense in Olympia, would convince anyone that atheism is alive and kicking.
