Monday was going to be a good day. I was headed from Marysville to Everett Community College for finals. I was preparing to meet my carpool partner before going to school. Until, that is, I turned on the news, and, to my horror, heard that I-5 was closed due to a fatal accident. As I drove down to State Avenue and Grove Street in Marysville, a thought came into my head: “Minus the looting, is this what it would be like if a national or natural disaster occurred?” It was so unreal that I was laughing. It was that nervous kind of laugh, of the realization that we would be totally lost if something happened.
Economically, it was a good idea to open the outlet mall in Marysville, but I think that we have seen things in the last week that our government needs to realize. Our traffic is outrageous and it needs to be fixed. If the city of Marysville is not going to do anything about it, then Snohomish County needs to do something.
I am just a college student, so I may not know all that I am talking about, but I can tell you, that we are living in an unsafe city, should anything happen and we need to evacuate quickly.
