It’s great to see that the Snohomish mayor and the city council are standing up to preserve the “feel” of old Snohomish by looking to rescind the chance of any card games being played in public places in the city. (Saturday article, “Snohomish moves to head off card rooms.”) I’m sure red lights and you-know-what are next.
After the environmental assault that is being waged on Bickford Avenue and what the city of Snohomish covets for future development in their desire to annex the area between the city of Snohomish and Lake Stevens, I’m expecting that this expression to maintain the character of Snohomish will have the city council backing off on the over-development of the Bickford corridor. That is, if they really stand for preserving the feel of Snohomish.
I can only hope the character of our mayor (I know him … he is a man of character) and the emphasis on preserving old Snohomish will reach beyond the present city limits and preserve the property and rights of those of us who also want to live in, and preserve, the feel of Snohomish.
