I see the Marysville School District has chosen an architect to build the new high school. The Tuesday article mentions key decisions that need to be made in the months ahead. For instance, the district must decide what programs will be offered and how to best use the space.
What I did not read was any mention of how they plan to manage the traffic on Getchell Hill, which is basically a two-lane road that you either travel straight up or down. Much of the road is missing street lights, and most importantly, sidewalks. The bottom by the golf course is only a three-way-stop that can barely manage the log of traffic it has during busy times now.
In the winter, when there is ice or snow, this is the first road that usually gets shut down because of the danger. So how can attendance be encouraged when there is no way to get to school in the first place?
Maybe this seems like a petty concern, but for those living on Getchell now, and those who will be using this new facility – be prepared.
