My wife has suggested that I strap myself to my chair so that I won’t hurt myself when I receive our property tax statement. While I struggle to recover from the shock the first question I will ask is “How did we allow ourselves to get to this point?”
Of course, I know the answer. We, like sheep to the slaughter, keep voting these tax-and-spend politicians into power at the state and local level. As long as we keep mindlessly voting for politicians just because there Is a “D” by their name we are going to be treated like ATMs with an endless source of resources they can tap into. The tragedy in all of this will be the disappearance of the working middle class in this area.
The state Supreme Court’s McCleary decision has nothing to do with improving our state education system. It is our Supreme Court (which is owned and operated by the Washington teacher’s union) bending to the union’s demands. Their ultimate goal, of course, is to force a state income tax on us so we can pay even more in taxes. Now we have all of the local school districts asking for even more money and higher property taxes! Where does it end?
And then there’s the criminal organization known as Sound Transit with their illegal car tab calculations, the constant over-budget and behind-schedule projects and the blank check that was given to them by the lemmings who voted for ST3.
Once we are both retired, my wife and I will have to make a very difficult decision about whether or not we can afford to continue to live in this area that we love. When are we going to wake up, folks? I know that there has to be politicians out there of either party that believe in the rule of law, fiscal responsibility and treating the taxpayers of this state with fairness and respect. God help us to find these people and elect them into office.
