Last weekend I glanced at yet another announcement from Tim Eyman of more initiatives he is dreaming up for the state of Washington. When will the voters in this state say enough is enough and tell this man to go back to his day job? Since moving here four years ago, I have watched as Mr. Eyman slowly begins to eat away at the funding to support many programs in this state. Will it be enough when your hour drive home becomes two or three due to transit systems that have cut back or simply no longer exist?
Will it be enough when you are driving through potholes because there is no money to fill them? Will it be enough when a family member who is elderly or disabled and had freedom because of disabled transportation starts having to depend on others? Will it be enough when someone dies because police or fire stretched to their limits due to budget cuts could not respond in time? Will if be enough when programs that help people in times of need such as Labor and Industries, social services, unemployment and others no longer exist? Will it be enough when federal, state and local governments just aren’t there anymore?
When will it be enough?
