Where did the money go in the Stanwood School District? According to school district charts, ending balances reached a positive $2 million in 1997. This year we are told there were $1.4 million in cuts needed to balance the budget. That totals $3.4 million. At the September board meeting school board President Matt Keller stated that the budgets had been exceeded. “It was like, instead of buying 10 pencils we bought 12,” he said.
How long will we have to wait for the answers? Board member Carol Ruble seems to be the only board member interested in looking at the money trail. The school board, which includes a CPA and a bank employee, needs to be accountable. Where did the money go and who is responsible?
