I am having a very difficult time understanding the voters in Snohomish County.
On July 31, ballots were mailed out to the voters. We have 19 days in which to take a few minutes each day to go over the Voters Pamphlet, mark the ballot, put it in the special envelope, sign the outer envelope, double seal it, stamp it and drop it in the nearest mailbox or authorized drop station throughout the county.
I checked the Auditor’s Web site Friday and there had only been 16 percent of the ballots returned. That is 6 percent more than the 10 percent that had been turned in as of last Tuesday.
Voting today is easier than it was 30-plus years ago and yet voters still choose to not exercise their right to take part in the process to choose the men or women who will be assigned the task of making decisions for the masses.
I was always told that if I didn’t vote, I had no right to complain when decisions that I didn’t agree with were handed down.
It is our right and our duty to exercise our right to vote. It is what our forefathers and our veterans have fought for.
