President Trump has made some “bigly” missteps along the way. Having said that, make no mistake about it, if Clinton and or Biden had been at the helm, it would have been an unmitigated disaster, much like the Hindenburg or Titanic fiascoes.
Overall, Trump has done a good job of managing this unprecedented crisis. His best decision was to shut-down China’s air travel to America, which was huge. But then, here’s where he got sideways.
He should have then protected our elderly and vulnerable by sheltering them in place. Then, anyone being exposed to COVID-19 should have been quarantined in our National Guard barracks and or in the mothballed cruise liners. This would have allowed our hospitals and the rest of the country to remain open with far fewer losses.
As it pertains to the fiscal part of this, there were some huge mistakes. Trump’s team should not have helicoptered money like the Obama administration did. The money should have been provided, with the caveat that it would be repaid with a small interest loan once the pandemic ran its course. To do otherwise would bankrupt Social Security, Medicare and our country as we know it and give credence to socialism, .just as his adversaries want.
Lastly, Trump should not start handing out taxpayers’ money to those states who ran huge deficits prior to COVID-19, because those states will simply hand out those monies to their voter base, citizen or not, to further their socialist agenda.
