I’m sure glad to see Gov. Jay Inslee, our “eco-warrior” hero, jetting across the country to get his “climate change” agenda out there front and center. I could take him seriously and his campaign could save a lot of money however, if he looked around closer to home.
I refer to Whidbey Island. Which the U.S. Navy has been for decades and continues to pollute on a daily basis. Examples: the groundwater in both the towns of Oak Harbor and Coupeville are contaminated; tons of carbon and particulate matter are released by these jets over farmland towns, the Salish Sea on any given day; and jet fuel is released into the Salish Sea as well to the detriment of all sea life. There is a Superfund site on base with no plan on how to remedy to boot.
If a private corporate entity was doing any of these things it would be fined and regulated out of existence. How come the Navy gets a pass when it comes to taking care of the environment? Enemy missile sites aren’t the only ones in danger from these Growlers. Time to look in our own backyard, Governor.
