On Oct. 18 I attended a forum in Mill Creek regarding the Patriot Act. Rep. Jay Inslee was a member of the panel. Other panelists included Snohomish County Sheriff Rick Bart, Mike Kipling of the ACLU, a political science professor, an FBI representative and a Sno-Isle Library System representative.
What did I learn at this forum? I am not supposed to trust President Bush, Attorney General John Ashcroft or anyone else in the Bush administration. I am not supposed to trust our judges. I can’t trust my legislator because he either votes for laws he doesn’t support, or he votes for laws he doesn’t read so that he doesn’t appear unpatriotic.
Other than that, I learned that the Patriot Act isn’t as bad as most would have you think.
