Ken Oakes’ letter to the editor wondered where we might find $2.4 trillion to fund Medicare for All (“How would we pay for Medicare for All? Higher taxes for all?” The Herald, Aug. 21).
That question doesn’t have much meaning until our top 1 percent who have at least 33 percent of our wealth (note that it is our wealth) and at least 23 percent of our income start paying taxes like those levied against the rich in the 1950s. And, those of us who fall in the top 10 percent will easily be able to help too.
I am looking forward to Medicare for All and to the 1 percent to 10 percent shouldering the majority of its costs.
