Has corporate greed completely usurped the rights of the public? Why does the City of Granite Falls and/or Snohomish County allow the Iron Mountain quarries to operate night and day?
Case in point: Aug. 27, 2 a.m. Miles from Granite Falls I am trying to get well-deserved sleep – and what awakens me? Those pesky back-up signals from Iron Mountain quarry machinery. This went on most of the night, and is an obvious violation of both city and county noise ordinances.
The public has the right to an undisturbed night of sleep, without the noise of industrial operations, during the hours of 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Is it asking too much of these quarries to be quiet during this time? Evidently the quarries could care less about abiding by the law and are insensitive to the rights of their neighbors. Since this is lacking, how about some enforcement of the law by our government agencies?
