Regarding the Sunday article, “Stormmy Paul: businessman, smuggler, ‘renegade Indian’”:
Renegade Indian?
Being myself half Native American and Swede (aka white, as you called Mr. Paul’s mother) I found this article outrageous. This article had me and my (white) husband in tears of laughter. I thought the article was a joke. Then I realized it was real. Was The Herald making a mockery of our system? The image of Mr. Paul rubbing sage on this body to prepare for battle was a slap in the face of every man no matter what color. He was only trying to save himself from going to prison. Has Mr. Paul ever seen battle? How dare he use this comparison.
Mr. Paul is nothing more than a criminal and smuggler. He used his Native American background to commit his crimes and didn’t respect the laws of any culture of Americans. Why publicize his criminal activity like he was some sort of hero? He has taken Native American laws and the laws of all Americans and twisted them for his own greed.
He has wasted your time, my time and hundreds of hours of both systems for his own benefit. He has disgraced us all.
He was right about one thing. He is a renegade and here is the meaning of renegade: One who deserts one’s faith, party, cause, movement and goes to the other side; traitor; turn-coat.
He hid behind the laws of Native Americans and his ailing parents. So Stormmy, I call you a coward!
