Why delay in story of Everett High musicians’ competition win?

Just read about the first-place finish in its division of the Everett High School Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band, at the Music in the Parks festival in Santa Clara, California, held on April 13! I read it in The Herald on May 2o! Our Everett High School Band did great and not reported by the The Herald until five weeks later?

And Everett had the outstanding jazz soloist, Andrew Vinther.

Now, let’s see how much I would like to know as a long time Everett High grad: How many kids in the separate bands? Any pictures of the event? What instruments in the bands and how many. Too many to name the winners? What instrument did Vinther play. What songs or tunes did the groups play? And why did it take so long to report?

If this were the Everett High football team taking first place, I bet we would hear all about it and quick. Music is a life long blessing for these kids and the rest of us. They should get more recognition for their work in Everett and by the Everett newspaper.
