This is in response to Iola Rowland’s May 9 letter to the editor (“Cuba visit: Tell Carter he and his friends can stay”).
While former President Carter has done some great work with Habitat for Humanity and various outreach programs, one would have to question the need for the Democratic big wigs constant courting of this Island dictator 90 miles off our shores. Not only has former President Carter been commenting on behalf of this whole country, he has been ever so slightly misguided in his comment (example: bioterrorism).
We have had Sen. Maria Cantwell over there with the ashington delegation just a few short months ago referring to this man as “charming.” My, how people forget the atrocities of this man, yet are willing to caress his form of Caribbean Communism.
May both parties at some time get past the senseless name calling, God willing.
