A question for Mukilteo Mayor Joe Marine: How does getting rid of parking for Whidbey Island commuters help Mukilteo? The effects of this are going to be:
1. Increasing the ferry line by putting 300-400 more cars in line daily.
2. Reducing sales tax and property tax (or rent) revenues from the parking. Parking that is paid for (not free!).
It seems that you are going to make two of Mukilteo’s current problems (long ferry lines and a budget deficit) worse with this decision.
How does that make sense for anyone?
