After reading the article in the June 14 Herald about Boeing opening facilities in Italy and Japan and I believe one in India, the thought occurred to me, what’s wrong with Mexico? They are right next door, as opposed to these other countries being thousands of miles away.
With hundreds of them attempting to cross our borders in an effort to find a better standard of living, why don’t Boeing and other large companies explore the possibility of offering these people a chance to stay home and make a decent wage, to support their family?
Having said this, let me point out I am not an advocate of moving our plants out of America, but if this is going to take place, why not closer to home, and perhaps solve a part of our border problem?
Most of the Mexican people I have met are honest, hard-working, family oriented people, and many of them find work here so they can send money back to their family members who are living in poverty.
Perhaps this solution is too simple, but to me it’s just plain common sense.
