From time to time I see letters to the editor wondering why, oh, why do people keep voting for Democrats around here. Well, I will tell you why.
I can remember years ago when we had some really good moderate Republicans around here. I don’t think Dan Evans ever lost a state-wide election, and Jack Metcalf was the best state representative we have had before or since. I used to always split my ticket, but no more.
These days you can bet most every Republican candidate is a garden variety union-busting, labor-hating, Bible-thumping land-clearing radical. I am disappointed also in many Democrats who are way too liberal for me, but like they say I will continue voting for a water glass with a D by its name if the other side stays the same.
