In the Aug. 28 Herald, Kentt Cooper wonders why our state politicians did not rush to roll out the red carpet for our current President’s campaign visit to Washington (Bushs’ visit: Dem’s failure to meet him classless”). I have to wonder if Kentt has been on another planet for a few years. If he were here, he would realize that, under the Bush regime, our national debt and our unemployment has skyrocketed and our economy is in the toilet. He has strangled state budgets across the country until most states are in crisis, including this one. He has thrown mandates at education without any funding to make them possible.
I could write a book about the damage he has done to us internationally, and continues to do. He has declared war on the environment, civil rights, and women’s reproductive freedom, all of which are precious to the citizens of this state. His only reasons for coming here at all were to try to pass himself off as friendly to the environment (what a joke!) and to squeeze our wealthiest residents for campaign donations. Kentt, do you really think he gives a damn about the rest of us? We were much better off under President Clinton, and that explains the difference between our warm welcome for him and our lack of enthusiasm for the worst president in the history of our country.
