Since President Trump questioned why more people from Norway aren’t immigrating to the United States, it’s instructive to explore why that might be the case. Currently, Norwegians enjoy:
Universal health care coverage through their National Insurance program;
Free college tuition through graduate school, plus government grants and low-cost loans to pay for students’ living expenses;
A pension for all senior citizens, regardless of income, plus a supplemental pension based on lifetime earnings.
As a result of these and other social welfare benefits, Norwegians live longer than Americans; they have an adult obesity rate of only 8.3 percent versus the U.S. at 30.6 percent; their violent crime and murder rates are one-seventh that of the U.S.; and their country’s ranked ninth in the world for its overall health care system, while we’re ranked 23rd.
Any more questions why Norwegians aren’t flocking to the USA?
