In response to your Jan. 23 article, “Farm Bureau questions Wild Sky”: Snohomish County wildlife enthusiasts, hunters and anglers support the proposed Wild Sky Wilderness.
We all know that most wildlife need isolated, secure habitat. Hunters know that roads criss-crossing our wild lands damage that habitat. Anglers know what old decaying logging roads do to watersheds. The proposed Wild Sky Wilderness would protect the forests and rivers of eastern Snohomish County so critical to Washington’s wildlife legacy while still ensuring full wildlife observing, hunting and fishing access.
Formal wilderness designation for these public forests would allow hunting and fishing to continue while safeguarding habitat to ensure quality outdoor recreation for sportsmen and women. We have the chance to add to the natural legacy of our children, the future hunters and anglers of Washington, by protecting the Wild Sky. Washington Wildlife Federation, (WWF) an affiliate of the National Wildlife Federation, is a coalition of local hunters, anglers and wildlife enthusiasts who are dedicated to helping Washington’s wildlife. WWF supports Sen. Patty Murray’s and Rep. Rick Larsen’s Wild Sky Wilderness bill. America is beautiful; let’s save some of it for future generations to enjoy.
