When I read the March 17 article in The Herald about the “Bad signs for county finances,” it dawned on me that the article didn’t mention property taxes that we all pay.
With the economy in recession, many home foreclosures, a large supply of existing houses on the market, and housing prices declining — I can’t help but wonder if we will be paying property taxes on values that were set before the recession, or will they be adjusted for loss of value?
Values in most areas are substantially less today than they were two years ago. Seems as though the property taxes should be adjusted.
