I often wonder at what point my Republican neighbors will wake up. Recently, the Republican-led House Intelligence Committee inquiry into the Russian interference in our election concluded that Putin was not trying to get Trump elected.
I wonder if the day of reckoning will ever come when supporters of Trump will ever have to be accountable for their extreme willingness to believe whatever the Republicans peddle? Perhaps Trump’s firing of Secretary of State Rex Tillerson when he blamed Russia for the nerve agent killing in England could be a clue to them. Maybe a quick check in with the evangelicals’ God will give an answer. Maybe the simple observation that so many Americans lie to themselves for breakfast is the answer.
But my mind keeps coming back to what Jon Stewart said when asked if he enjoyed interviewing politicians. He said that he hated it because politicians are salesmen that eventually believe their lies.
