Raccoons come to our house at night sometimes, and we give them some cat food whenever they do. But something is happening. Last year they only came about once a month. This year they come about twice a week. I wanted to know why, so I researched it. They are being driven out of their environment by mankind, because our population is growing rapidly. It is out of control.
Mankind is not only dominating the planet, it is annihilating it.
If we continue this way, in just a few years a lot of species of animals we know will disappear. Who knows if dolphins, rhinos, tigers, least weasels, ferrets, red wolves, and other species will disappear within the next 10 years?
A few months ago my dad and I went on a hike to the Monte Cristo railroad tunnels. It was the first time in years that I’d been there. I could barely recognize it. The riverbank where my family and I had picnics when I was 5 was gone. It was covered with water. Water levels are rising. The greenhouse effect and global warming are taking place.
The North Pole has been frozen for a long time -around 100,000 years. But it is melting rapidly and will continue if we don’t do something about it.
Scientists say that a quarter of the animals that existed in the 1990s will have disappeared by 2010, and that the world’s resources will run out by 2050.
Take this world. Add flooding, starvation, war, disease and death. Imagine yourself in that world. Imagine your children, grandchildren, husbands, wives, relatives, friends and parents in that world. Now step back.
And tell me, are you just going to sit there and let this happen, and do nothing to stop it?
