I wish to thank all those Mill Creek citizens who came together to collectively let our City Council members know about the Mill Creek/ Seattle Hill Road noise pollution/safety/aesthetic problems. This group, in conjunction with the city staff, council and a paid consultant, came up with excellent solutions to help make our city more livable.
The council rightly decided to first try two of the group’s economical means to reduce the traffic noise and speeding on the Mill Creek/Seattle Hill Road. Because of the new speed limit, reduced eastward lane travel and police enforcement, two of our group’s recommendations have in fact reduced a little of the city’s noise. Thanks to the City Council members and city staff, for taking these first steps toward re-establishing our community as a safe and peaceful place to live. They must not stop there.
I wish to remind them that along with the city-paid consultant and our citizen advisory group, we also proposed having at least two roundabouts located on Seattle Hill Road. I hope all the City Council members have been reading the numerous newspaper articles supporting the highly effective use of roundabouts, and that they will collectively vote to incorporate this type of safety and calming devices onto Seattle Hill Road.
To my fellow concerned citizens, we must not give up our collective voice, because if we do, it will be easy for our city representatives to put our concerns on their back burner. So, my fellow activists (and voters), we must continue to stand up and speak out in unison since it is our combined actions that are motivating our elected officials not to forget about the safety and noise pollution problems on Mill Creek/Seattle Hill Road.
