There has never been a stronger argument than the Hobby Lobby decision to get health care out of the hands of employers. The United States is already at an economic disadvantage worldwide because our corporations have to pay for health care, unlike most other industrialized nations.
With the new Supreme Court ruling corporations can now force religious dictates onto employees through their health-care policies, thus making corporations rights more “equal” than yours. There is no question that corporations will use this ruling to chip away at the health care they provide their employees under the guise of religion. The reasons above argue strongly that the current method to pay for U.S. citizen’s health care is broken and the Supreme Court just made it worse.
The only rational solution is to get the profit motive out of health care, remove it from the hands of your employer and to socialize it. That would be the best outcome for the people, corporations and our nation. This writer is predicting that the wrongheaded Hobby Lobby ruling will push “Medicare For All” forward by years.
