A recent letter suggested allowing homeless people to move into foreclosed homes that are sitting empty or abandoned.
A noble idea, but a better idea would be to let the original homeowners move back to their homes. The financially troubled owner would be much more likely to keep the home in good condition, and eventually may be able to resume making payments again.
What a shame for a family to lose their home, and then watch as someone else moves in — rent free!
Now, the former owner is homeless, so they are eligible to move into someone else’s foreclosed home! What a sad game of musical chairs.
