Thanks Mr. and Mrs. Larson for recognizing the efforts of Cynthia Perry. (Saturday letter, “High praise for parks employee.”) All was correct except that Cynthia is employed by the Everett School District. She is one of a 12-person grounds/utility department that is responsible for the upkeep of the outside of 26 schools, campuses and fields, Everett memorial stadium and the new CRC administration building.
Cynthia is assigned to Everett High School and has other responsibilities in areas throughout the district. She is the only female on our crew and has no trouble with the work load of a normally male-dominant occupation. She is a proud member of SEIU local 925, a single working mother who has been employed seven years, without a cost of living raise. Please think about the blue collar people when it is time to vote, and support our efforts to get a fair decent contract. Thanks again for noticing the efforts of my co-worker in our under-staffed, over-administrated world. Sincere thanks.
Bill Collins,
Lead Grounds/ Utility Everett School District
Everett
