In response to the complaint about a par-5 hole at Everett’s Legion Memorial course and requesting the hole be restored, may I offer some advice: We need to focus attention on saving the golf courses in Everett more so than being critical of them and of the slope rating. The city in the last several years has had numerous discussions regarding closing at least one golf course.
I would hope that when the city starts talking closure or referencing this as not the highest and best use for this property that you support me in efforts to keep the golf courses functional and available to the public.
You could blame the slope rating on the USGA officials as a slope rating on Legion Memorial at 114 and 116 at Walter Hall does not make any sense at all.
One final statement on a dislike of a par-4 (302 yards): Might I suggest a 5-iron (180 yards) and then a full pitching wedge to the green. Good luck on a two-putt for par.
