Would another bridge help with I-5 traffic?

I-5 project

Would another bridge help with traffic?

Thank you for your recent article about Everett to Marysville traffic (“Everett to Marysville HOV lane opens to mixed reviews,” The Herald, Aug. 22).

I don’t know who to suggest it to, but why don’t they provide another bridge to cross? Since everything bottle-necks in that space, adding more lanes won’t really help traffic; it will only put a bandage on it tell something far worse happens.

If the bridge was to go down on I-5, traffic would come to a stop, pretty much like it is, but what happens during emergency situations. A another option would be to build another bridge to go from Everett into Marysville, this would help reduce traffic flow on the freeway along with allowing alternative resources to cross the water and train tracks. This would make sense in cases where they would need to reroute traffic, or help during emergency situations, even during massive evacuation.

I know I would feel much more comfortable knowing I had more simple choices of getting from Everett to Marysville when I didn’t want to drive a crazy distance around, only to cross to get from one town to another. Thank you.
