This is in response to some letters from fireworks haters recently. As you live in the U.S. you have been given a gift. You live as a free man among equals, no royalty, no ruling class and, yes, you should make some noise about it.
The original instructions from John Adams, Founding Father, in reference to the signing of the Declaration of Independence: “It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shews, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other from this time forward forever more.”
If fireworks are outlawed in your area you will have to go with guns, bells, and bonfires. Be careful out there, firearms unlike fireworks really are dangerous. But maybe if they can outlaw the very symbol of our freedom then is there much to celebrate about anyway.
