You can’t rush the art of flight

Everett’s “Art of Flight” exhibit continues, even though a certain big local airplane artist is having some trouble with its muse. Next week, the exhibit features a visit from Erik Lindbergh, grandson of famed aviator Charles Lindbergh and an accomplished pilot and sculptor in his own right.

Charles Lindbergh was the first to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean without stopping in 1927. He later was accused of being a Nazi sympathizer and secretly fathering seven children in Germany.

Erik Lindbergh followed in his grandfather’s footsteps by emulating his solo flight across the Atlantic in 2002. He’ll probably want to stop at that.

From the turnabout-is-fair-play department, some airlines are a bit unhappy about having to wait for the 787. Most are taking the delay in stride, but a few don’t like being inconvenienced. Maybe Boeing can keep them quiet with free toothbrushes and vouchers to the nearest Super 8 motel.

Speculation has it that Al Gore could win a Nobel Peace Prize today, completing the rare Oscar-Emmy-Nobel trifecta. The only thing left worth winning will be People’s “Sexiest Man Alive.”
