Young people make sacrifices worthwhile

Having been one of the contributors to The Herald’s Nov. 11 article on the flag (“Tales of Glory”), I have received many phone calls from people I have never met, thanking me for being a World War II veteran. I have been asked to show the flag and tell its story to school and church groups. I always tell them, we veterans fought the war for you and your freedoms. They all have been very appreciative. But as I think more about my statement, it dawned on me, we should thank them. That’s because this generation of great young people has made it all worthwhile.
