I strongly agree with the May 8 letter to the editor by Ed Mohs, “Youth violence: Community must help work to help kids.”
As a senior at Kamiak High School, I think it’s time the government should do something about all the violence that’s around us. Every week I opn the newspaper and there’s always some kind of tragedy in it. I’m just sick and tired of seeing people die at such a young age.
I suggest the government build a place, like a little plaza, with shops, coffee stands, etc., so teens could hang out in the evenings and on the weekends. The government should cut back on the patrol forces, so they could raise enough money to build the place. When the teens have a place to go, we won’t need as many cops on the streets.
If the government won’t do anything about this, who will? We don’t have the power and authority to change anything.
