Snohomish County does give back to the community (Aug. 31, “Snohomish County Gives.”). Unfortunately, the Herald section did not acknowledge the many active service clubs in our area whose volunteers give tirelessly of time and raise substantial dollars to benefit the needy.
The Zonta Club of Everett this year celebrates 85 years of positively changing women’s lives in Snohomish County. The club’s projects have varied from the “Milk Fund” for school children to sponsoring a room in the new Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County’s shelter. Since the club’s first annual auction 38 years ago, the Zonta Club of Everett Foundation has awarded more than $1 million in grants to local nonprofit agencies and has given scholarships to women in fields of business, public affairs and to women re-entering the workforce.
This year’s auction, “Forever in Blue Jeans” will be held Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Everett Holiday Inn. To donate an item to the auction or contribute to the Zonta Club of Everett Foundation, please visit info@zontaeverett.org or call 425-422-6157.
