SELAH — Trailing 4-1 Granite Falls made a pitching change that changed everything.
Lauren Harding relieved starter Kimmy Martinez in the fifth inning and held White River scoreless in the final three innings as the Tigers’ offense woke up en route to a 10-4 win in a first-round game of the 2A state tournament.
After Harding got Granite Falls out of a jam in the fifth, the Tigers scored four runs in the fifth and five in the sixth to win the game. The Tigers advanced to play Tumwater in the quarterfinals at 4 p.m.
Peyton Spencer was 3-for-4 with three RBI, including a two-run double, and Haley Brennan was 2-for-4 with three RBI in the win.
