Congrats to the Glacier Peak High School boys basketball team! The Grizzlies prevailed in their first-ever state hoops tournament game this morning.
Led by Brandon Hill and Jack Bonner, Glacier Peak beat Franklin Pierce 59-45 in the first round at the Tacoma Dome. Glacier Peak, a second-year program that has its first class of seniors, advanced to Thursday’s quarterfinals and will play Lakes, which defeated defending champion Franklin 79-66 today in the opening round.

In the 3A girls basketball state tournament at the T-Dome, District 1 No. 2 seed Lynnwood lost 47-38 this morning against perennial powerhouse Prairie. Lynnwood will play Yelm at 9 a.m. Thursday in a loser-out game. Yelm lost by 27 points (60-33) against Holy Names today in the first round.
As for the 2A state basketball championships at the Yakima SunDome, 2009 state runnerup Archbishop Murphy is set to play Ellensburg at 9 p.m. tonight. Check out the updated 2A girls state bracket.
