3rd quarter deficit dooms Darrington

FRIDAY HARBOR — Friday Harbor has struggled in the third quarter this season.

Add a loss at home to Northwest 1A/2B League-leading La Conner on Tuesday, and the Wolverines were due.

And they responded, outscoring Darrington 20-9 in the third quarter to turn a 20-19 halftime deficit into a 53-48 victory.

“The third quarter has been difficult for us this year, but we got better shots tonight and hit the offensive boards,” Friday Harbor coach Rod Turnbull said. “That was the key.”

Tommy Fowler had 11 points and 14 rebounds and Parker Lawson had five of his seven rebounds on the offensive glass to lead Friday Harbor’s third-quarter onslaught.

Mark Jones scored 13 points and Justin O’Dell tallied 11 to lead Darrington.
