UPDATE 6:34 p.m.
Lake Stevens’ Peterson is going to be fine, according to the public-address announcer here at Monroe High.
Peterson suffered from a lack of oxygen but has recovered and should be able to compete next week at the 4A regional tournament, the announcer said a few minutes ago.

ORIGINAL POST
There was a scary moment earlier this afternoon during the Class 4A District 1 wrestling tournament here at Monroe High School.
In the 103-pound final, Lake Stevens sophomore Jesse Peterson was knocked unconscious during a takedown move by match winner Dallas Parker of Mariner. Parker won with a pin.
Peterson landed hard on his back and head in the second period. The impact knocked him unconscious for several minutes. Athletic trainers and coaches surrounded Peterson on the mat.
Peterson appeared to be motionless but five medical personnel from Monroe Fire District 3 arrived. They checked Peterson, carefully placed him on a backboard and transported him to an ambulance.
As Peterson – who had regained consciousness by then – was transported out of the gym, the crowd expressed its support with loud applause and the public-address announcer said: “Our wishes go with you, Jesse.”
I’m not sure what Peterson’s exact status is but Lake Stevens assistant coach Burke Barnes said Peterson is “OK.”
Peterson said he had feeling in his extremities, according to Snohomish head wrestling coach Rob Zabel, who spoke to Lake Stevens coaches after Peterson’s injury.
I will post an update when I learn more.
