As I mentioned earlier, Everett and Seattle have played many a competitive and compelling game over the past three seasons. The teams may not have been competitive with the Portlands of the world, but they sure were competitive with one another. This season the teams are again competitive, but in a different part of the standings — Seattle currently has the most points in the WHL, while Everett currently has the best winning percentage in the league.
The teams play their first head-to-head game Saturday at Comcast Arena. It’s the only meeting between the two teams during the first half of the season, and it happens on Pink the Rink night, so I expect a big crowd and the atmosphere to be electric. Somehow the atmosphere for games between the two teams the past three season was always electric, even though they were battling for eighth instead of first.
So here’s a quick trip down Everett-Seattle memory lane. Of all the games between the two the past three seasons, this one had the most on the line. Here’s Everett’s final game of the 2011-12 season. In essence, the winner headed to the playoffs and the loser headed home. And let me tell you, having been there that night, this game was tense.
