The Huskies concluded their sixth practice of the spring today, electing to work in Dempsy Indoor today. There were no pads today, as the Huskies were taking a day away from full contact before tomorrow’s practice, which will involve some scrimmaging.
One newsworthy item to come out of today is Luther Leonard’s move from quarterback to receiver. Leonard, who redshirted last year, has always been viewed as an athlete who could end up playing elsewhere on the field, so the switch isn’t exactly a big surprise. UW coach Steve Sarkisian said the move was the coaches idea, but that Leonard was OK with it.
Another interesting aspect of today’s practice was a new-look offensive line. Obviously it’s really early still and the coaches are trying different looks, but for what it’s worth, here’s what the line looked like today:
First team: LT Cody Habben, LG Ryan Tolar, C Mykenna Ikehara, RG Senio Kelemete, RT Drew Schaefer.
Second team: LT Skyler Fancher, LG Ben Ossai, C Gergory Christine, RG Morgon Rosborough, RT Allen Carroll.
Tailbacks Chris Polk (lower leg bruise) and Brandon Johnson (concussion), and receiver D’Andre Goodwin (hamstring) again sat out practice, and Sarkisian said he doesn’t expect any of the three to scrimmage Saturday.
