All three Meadowdale relay teams have success

FEDERAL WAY – Meadowdale’s relay quartet of Jason Merrifield, David Clobes, Derek Shiu and Jon Keane qualified for the championship final in the 200-yard freestyle relay and the consolation final in the 400 freestyle relay Friday during prelims in the 3A/2A boys swimming state meet at the King County Aquatics Center.

Merrifield and Clobes joined Kyle Asp and Dustin Van Duin on the 200 medley relay team, which qualified for the consolation final.

Keane qualified for the championship final in the 200 freestyle. Skyline’s Peter Wicklund swam an automatic All-America time of 1:39.92 in winning the prelim. Keane was 11th in the 100 freestyle, qualifying for the consolation final in that event.

Shiu qualified for two consolation finals, finishing 16th in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke.
